Farewell

I wore the sunlight on my body
And hid the clouds in my pocket.
I carried the wind in my eyes
Then crowned myself with June’s full moon.
I am perfectly dressed.
My footsteps echoed on the empty hallway
“Farewell,” my heart sang in melancholy
To the faces and voices that honed and guided me,
To the tiny feet that cheerfully plodded,
And to the little smiles that soothed the soul.
Alas, my dearly beloveds we must part,
But know that you shall never be forgot.
