Persistence

I wish to escape from this prison I built.
The dull walls patterned in an illusory quilt.
Alone in self-created sufferings,
Blinded by temporary, worldly musings.

Outside, the moon waxed and waned.
Yet my shadows keep me chained.
Shackles without lock and key,
To emancipate, I must know the mystery.

I am shackled from head to foot.
Movement restricted, all-covered in soot.
I unlock one;
I find a thousand more to be undone.

The candlelight battles the looming night,
Steadfast, fighting with all its might.
Your voice seems so distant,
But my heart must remain persistent.

Your Guiding hand though tough, keeps me steady
In this long and weary journey.
As Shiva’s divine dance completes itself,
So too shall I master and conquer my Self.

First Cycle

Fall wind, autumn skies
Sing me your familiar lullabies.
Like leaves falling to the waiting pavement
Devolution occurs in silent lament.

The wind whispers with a soothing chill,
“Heart be strong; mind be still”
Part the clouds in hopes that I may see
The Logos – the one, the seven and the three.

Past the ninth cycle I have been lead
Cradle this weary, suffering head.
Here comes the first cycle at last
A new period of evolution has been cast.

In this worldly plane, the lower Self resists
Yet in the dark, the candlelight persists.
Let Love be my armor, my weapon and my shield
Upon this first cycle I shall aspire to build.

To Adi Narayana, venerable Siddhas, and my Beloved Guru I plea
Through earthly turmoil and suffering, please guide me.
Never do I wish to leave Your side
In Your path of Light may I always abide.

Ninth Cycle

Here comes the last of the cycles
Devolution brings forth the necessary obstacles.
Enfeebled mind, enervated shell
With utmost care, endure them well.
Travel into the heart and from within,
Observe the outside by looking in.

A Plea from the Heart

Come forth, I summon that other part
Let no darkness seep into my heart.
With the power of the waxing moon this prayer is wrought
That lessons might be transmitted and taught.
Let me burn with the light of a thousand stars
That I might dislodge the shadows that cloak their hearts.
Teach me altruism and humility
That I might perceive this world without hostility.
And most important, gift me with love
As below, so above.
Fortify my barriers and temporarily seal off my receptors
That I might have the fortitude to balance both pillars.
Until my last breath may I serve
Grant me what I deserve.
